This week, our Head of School, Leanna, had the wonderful opportunity to be formally interviewed by a UK Parliament POST fellow. The interview is part of a peer-reviewed briefing that will be presented to the House of Lords and the House of Commons, focusing on children's well-being in schools.
The request for Leanna’s interview came from the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST), prompted by recent, irrefutable evidence showing that children with higher levels of emotional, behavioural, social, and overall school well-being achieve higher academic outcomes.
We are delighted that Leanna has been recognised, named, and consulted to provide positive evidence on which school interventions and approaches effectively support children's well-being. It was heartening to hear the research fellow describe Liberty Woodland School as 'a breath of fresh air'—a school delivering what children need and proving that this approach is possible.
Let’s spread the word about how reimagining schools to prioritise well-being can significantly impact behaviour and academic achievement. We believe that when well-being is at the heart of education, students thrive both personally and academically. Publication of the report will follow, detailing our insights and findings.
