Sandy achieved a 1 st class B.Ed teaching degree with Music before teaching in inner London primary schools, holding posts including Head of Early Years, Music, English and RE subject leader roles, as well as Mentor for trainee teachers and Early Career teachers.
Sandy gained her MA in Early Childhood Education in the USA before embarking on a PhD in Reading Recovery at the University of London. Prior to joining the pioneering LWS, Sandy’s career comprised a long stint as a Literacy Advisor for Local Education Authorities and as a regional director for the National Literacy Strategy, as well as Senior Lecturer for teacher trainees at Roehampton University. Subsequent experience as an intervention specialist led Sandy to embark on the SENCo path and gain the NASENCo qualification. She is passionate about championing an inclusive neuro-affirmative perspective embedded in the nurturing experience of outdoor learning where children at LWS flourish and thrive.
